Emmaljunga NXT30

My first thoughts about this stroller were not particularly positive. The bumper bar just did not create any excitement for me. But now, a few months later, I've began to appreciate it. Perfect for a toddler "slipping" out of the stroller seat.

Now, some impressions...

  • Handle is quite thin, and I am not use to this. But it is not uncomfortable. You can change its position both as a telescope and horizontally, which is a good option. I like that when pushing the regulating buttons, the handle just falls down. Great when the kid wants to push the stroller.
  • Yes, the bumper bar is very different from most (though I know now already some with similar solutions e.g Carena Kobbe). The trouble with this bumper bar is, however, that while you can take it away, there is about 5 cm of attachment still sticking out. Yes, you can fold it down, but still, I don't think the solution is ideal. My kid loved this bumper bar, it's like a wheel or something. It is possible to use a foot-muff with this bumper bar in one of three ways: 1) remove bumper bar and reattach bumper bar through the buckle opening; 2) remove bumper bar and leave it unattached; 3) fold bumper bar down and use it as such.
  • Folding is quite similar to Easywalker Mosey, but for this type of stroller, just too many movements for me. If I had to hold a toddler at the same time, it would be too much. First you have to fold the seat, then push the handle in (telescope), then fold handle and then the stroller by pushing a button behind the seat. So you definitely need both hands. Its more compact than the predecessor.
  • The canopy is medium size, not nearly enough for Nordic conditions with low sun most of the year. It does have a peek-in window, which is convenient. The canopy can be moved quite easily. I do not understand why the canopy has white cotton fabric on the inside - just begging to get dirty.

  • The seat is long, not very wide, but wide enough for a child to fit in with winter overall and/or foot-muff. I like that the seat fabric comes a bit to the sides as well, perfect for winter conditions. The seat has a full recline, though in full recline, it can be challenging not to hit ones legs to the seat.
  • The storage basket is quite good - covered from three sides, one side is low. It has quite a good 10 kg capacity. Unfortunately when the seat is reclined it has poor access and if you have a lot of unattached things in there, they may fall out when lifting up the front wheels.
  • The push is quite easy, but the maneuverability is mediocre. But it is a steady stroller. I wouldn't hate it for the push if I had to used it daily.

Overall, what I loved about this stroller:
  1. more compact and visually appealing than Emmaljunga Scooter
  2. environmentally conscious
  3. T-shaped bumper bar
  4. Long seat
  5. The adjustable footrest is cover with easy to clean material (perfect for toddlers!)
  6. Full-recline
  7. Storage basket has 10 kg capacity
  8. My kid loved it!
What I wasn't sold on:
  1. Inside white (though organic cotton, but why??) canopy
  2. Folding
  3. Weight
  4. Bumper bar should be completely removable

Review and comparison: Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle vs Bumbleride Indie

Mountain Buggy   is not a new stroller brand for me. Last winter in Tallinn, I used Mountain Buggy Swift, quite successfully. I hope to get around to doing a small review on that too soon. Anyways, today I had a good opportunity to compare side by side Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle (UJ from here on) and Bumbleride Indie (Indie from here on). Both are three-wheelers, sporty, not not quite meant for running or rollerblading because they don't have the appropriate hand-break. They are mainly built for forward-facing use. UJ has the possibility of converting the carrycot into a parent facing seat (up to 15 kg), but in my opinion the solution isn't ideal due to very open seat and short canopy. But overall this review is from the viewpoint of using it with a toddler. I did a review on Bumbleride Indie before, you can read it here . Some technical data on UJ: Carrying capacity 25 kg (officially only 9 kg is allowed in full recline, though in my experience nothing has happened...

Review: Thule Sleek

I waited quite a while that some new interesting stroller came along that was really something exiting. There a couple more on the horizon right now ( Micralite !), but the first to arrive was Thule Sleek. I have been following its arrival since the first sneak-peeks and was very eager to try it. I've had positive experiences with Thule before ( Thule Urban Glide 2 , I've been meaning to getting around to post about it as well). What I am really happy about is that Thule understands that strollers are used by a little bit older kids as well. My 2 year old does not use the stroller on a daily basis anymore (daycare + sometimes with bad weather she sleeps indoors), but because she isn't much of a hold-hand type and runs off a lot, strollers are still essential to us.  Believe it or not, this was the first time I tried a stroller with an ergonomic seat. Plus it had been a while since I tried using a stroller with parent-facing seat. I was curious to see what my daught...
